best notebook ever

I read reviews and checked out laptops/notebooks in stores. I had narrowed it down to this one and Acer which my daughter has and likes. Acer and HP are both good brands but the keyboard on the HP convinced me to buy this one. I wanted silver keys with silky smooth feeling and I got that with the HP Pavilion G-60. The keyboard has 10 key which is a must for me. The keys work very smoothly and don’t show fingerprints. I like the widescreen, it gives a more complete and comfortable view. I basically wanted a laptop of my own to organize our photos and e-mail and shop on line. I let my husband take over our pc. The mouse is quite easy and fast to maneuver so that I don’t need an external mouse. Quality laptop, am very happy with it.
Good value for money

I’ve bought this refurbished laptop and until now i haven’t had a single problem with it, everything works. The only thing i changed was the os, i downgraded it to XP. It was a necessity.

By Stan Tomberg (Hendersonville, NC) – See all my reviews
On 1/01/09 I called customer service (that is what they call it). I told the tech my internal lightscribe drive would not burn label’s. I am not a not a novice and I went through all the steps – uninstalling the drive and reinstalling the drive, etc. I told the the tech that my external lightscribe drive was working fine so it had to be the drive. He had me duplicate all the steps I Had already done and after 1:05 he said he would send me a new drive it was under warranty got my credit card info and he put me on hold. After 10 minutes (1:15 total time) I hung up.
I called back after I cooled down and got a tech who saw what was done, bur insisted to let him take over my PC. He assured me it take only 20 minutes and I agreed. An hour and 35 minutes later I told him just take of ordering the drive (it seems the first tech did not it. Hr agreed and then after being on hold for 5 minutes he told me the system was down and I would have to call back on 11/2/09.
Both techs had bad attitudes and treated me like a dummy. I wasted two hours and 40 minutes of being insulted and talked down to!
Price can not overcome lack of service
review of Hewlett packard
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Hi there , I har buy giving your computer shoppers a complete make over on this review. Lets stat off that Hewlett Packard is nothing more then a black market.
YES A CHINA MADE BLACK MARKET COMPUTERS! ALSO INTO THIS SPYWARE HARDARE AND SPYWARE SOFTWARE.
Hewlett Packard /EBAY/PAYPAL must go out of buiness. This is not hate message. Evne the real fact I do hate these big corperations.
The real deal of Hewlett Pachard or I like to call them parden my french to the consumers. Hewlett Phuckard. I am serius. lets start of with the DV9000, DV9200cto sereis Notebook computers
talk about bad design. using Cbina made black market parts. comes complete with spyware hardware and spyware software. Do not take it the wrong way. what I ment is my persioal ID and who I am where I live and what I do on the DV92000 series notebook will be sent on secret spyware hsardware and software is designed in to the Notebook computer. othter Dead design problems are
Over heating motherboard. that will over heat and dies. Power supply. runs to darn gone hot. Word of caution. may melt down or explode with out warning. Heavy amount of blue screen of death just on opening a foulder. I hade the windows go out of control and gut stuck or blue screen of death. Due to the graphic controlers and the OPEN-GL Files.
Hewlett Packard design to have no service. No warrenty. it clmes it dose however it dose not. Due to full cost of Hewlett Packard’s corp level bank accounts. World wide bank accounts.
I kid you not. Let the warrenty due. Hewlett packard tech support is the far worst ever or even same as Dell. never the less let the warrenty die. Make Beleaved they fixed it.
Blacking out my own persional sofwrare that I paid money on. well becuasde I did not order it from HP it will not work. GTA IV PC for one example is also a spyware driven sending spy in my computers to block the software and the computer to work.
Hewlett pckard sold one of the three dv9000 series notebooks that are bead desisng. one was sold to some on in California. I wanted 8 months for a replacment. Due to the Full Cost.
HP sent me a dead designed notebook computer called DV7-1000z same the usbal dead design issues. all of there notebooks comes with the worlds worst O.S. on the market. Windows Vista.
Micorosft main O.S. to kill poeples computers. well to tell the real data. HP dose not need to do this evel work for them. HP dose it for the all mighty constituion rights.
Microosft dose take heavy amout of the blame for this issue. However HP started it from the start. Still the DV7-1000z also main objective is the Windows Vista and the hardsware simply makes a dead computer run dead. well cannot access the internet. Unable to install sofrware and runn it beucase I did not order the software from HP. So they blacked it. the information was gaven to me from the corp level of HP. over a arument on the phone.
Hewlett Packard dose argue and fignt over the phone. Not a way to treat the tax paying consumers. when I pay for something. I want it to work. Not design to spy on my Visa card, bank ccount,Persional ID, who I work for. who I am shopping with. Not of there busiess to do so. never the less due to the due to the freedom of rights. HP can do what ever they please.
and the Federal Goverment of the United States of America dose use Hp servies to spy on who ever the Federal govement wants to do.
did you follow the special report from CNBC reguarding big corperation ripping off peoples ID? Hewlett packard was on this report on there Lazer Printers. printing out a code in yellow dots on the paper. it canss what the document is. then Hewlett Packard gets all the documents and sells it to big corperation. The bigest customer I think is the US Federal Govermentto help out in some of there privet objective. want to keep a eye on some one.
Hewlett packard phone support realy stinks. Hewlett pckard killed my account. Buecase I did not follow there rules and regulations. Ok Fine. building black market computers. selling in on the market. ripping off consumers and the consumers do not have the right to ask quetions on the subject? Hell I paid for it. I demand the service I need. if not. Hewlett packard dose not follow instutctions from the consumers. I am one consumer. when I told them them not do build dead computers for a living. build more and more and more. One other thing.
when I tell Hewlett Packard to give me back the money.. there excuse is its too old. why its too old? HP dose not do anything. Waste my time and money. to enforce the all sales are final.
I had persioal taken the mater to the US Goverment Atterney General office. I filed many suck reports on many charges I am placing agisnt Hewlett Packard. so far I have to hire my own atterney. Gee wis Hewlett Packaerd paid money to the Federal Goverment in order to have black market protection from the Federl Govmerment. the mail I have everty thime I file a report ends up with hire my own atterney. never send a federal agient to shut Heewlett packard down. Never both to ask me to look my my notebook computers and see for them selfs The Federal Goverment must learn about why I am doing my reports. lazy work form Federal goverment atterneys. come on. I got email from the US goverment not to keep filing new reports on Hewlett packard. I got snail mail demanding me to do the same thing. Not to file reports. Go to my privet atterney.
Hewlett packard prodcution line is bad for the envirement. using not save production in China. in the USA its not allowed to use those hazard products however in China there is no law o hazard products.
I do not recomand Hewlett packard to any consumers. If you want my dead computers to prove it. if any one wants one can buy my dead computers 1,200.00 each Full cost.
if you want soemthing to use in court. some one with money wants to take down Hewlett packard can easy send me a message.
I will be more then happy to support any one that is willing to take down Hewlwett packard. Note I do not have the money to dotate to a product like that. however I will be more then willing to sell my dead computers to any one is willing to take on Hewlett packard.
8″ of Dead Pixels & counting
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought this computer in April 2009 from Staples. It worked fine until about a month ago. I turned it on & there were a few dead (black) pixels across the bottom. Every time I turn it on there are more dead pixels — now the longest stretch of dead ones is over 8″ long with 4-6 more rows of dead pixels that are 4″ long.
I spent a long time chatting with “customer service” (there’s an oxymoron….). They want me to ship it back to them for “service”. I said, “No — I did not pay for a refurbished computer. I bought a NEW computer.” After reading these dismal reviews on Amazon (for which I am very grateful) I realize that working with HP is a hopeless venture.
They have told me that it has been escalated to a manger who will call me back within 48 hours. I’ve read time & again online that others have been given that song & dance & have never been called.
We had also just bought two other HP’s over the summer along three HP printers. If they don’t make it right, i.e., replace this with a brand new computer (since that’s what I paid for!) I will never, ever buy another HP product & I will make certain that everyone I know hears of my experience with HP “quality”.
It just seems to me that once a company outsources, their customer service goes down the toilet. We are dealing with persons who are reading off of a script & who cannot “think”. Very frustrating for the consumer!
Slow, Sticky and Frozen
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
This thing is crap. Looks great out of the box, the wireless internet, ANY wireless internet takes fives to come up. You cannot even click on wireless connections during that time or the thing freezes. Constantly freezing on webpages. Very slow. No thanks. Try something else and do yourself a favor….
PC Herman
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Good product overall. Box was a bit banged up when I got it so I was apprehensive but there was no damage I could see. Love the full keyboard and the feel of it. Other PC’s I’ve had didn’t have the same good feel when stroking the keys. My only complaint is the USB ports, there’s 3 of them, aren’t easily usable. Very difficult to use one in particular so I don’t use it. It just doesn’t feel like it’s to the specs it should be. Other than that very happy with it.
Nice laptop, bright screen, fast
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this for a client. I set it up and she bought from me. It is bright LCD. I like the keyboard with the 10-key. IT has no PCMCIA/PC Card or Expresscard slots. THE STUPID THING HAS NO GIGABIT Network. That’s ridiculous. Besides that, the video cam is nice to have. As with all laptops, it needs a backlit keyboard, but Macbook Pros are one of the few that have it. This does have a modem, which she needed. The Pentium Processor is like a Core 2 Duo with a little less cache… almost the same. Comes with Vista 32-bit SP1 and 3GB. There is no latch for the case lid. They could have at least put a magnetic catch on it. I don’t like the fat power connector, but it works.
The video cam software has a bug. Needed to update it and other miscellaneous software with HP updates. Not a lot of junk programs to uninstall (bloatware) — I only removed 2 programs that sit on the Start Menu. I spent 3 hours or so updating this to SP2, latest Windows update, and getting a lot of updated HP software installed for customer. Almost all went smooth. The HP stupid BIOS updating software is stupid… it updates the BIOS but locks up. You have to manually power cycle while in Vista. I called HP on a screen that said “DO NOT TURN OFF COMPUTER” but I had a thumb’s up. Eventually, they closed the case and said good luck. Call us back if it won’t boot back up. It did of course. I did 2 BIOS updates with same issue. It is called InsydeFlash or Insyde BIOS Flash, and it is terrible.
Anything missing? Yeah, well, a lot of the direct access buttons. I like a button or better a dial for volume. This laptop doesn’t have dedicated keys for stuff like that. You have to get up really close and read the function keys.
Overall, this is a decent machine and rates 5 stars even with my nitpicking. Its Vista rating was about 3.6 or 3.7 I think with a low for the gaming performance. It came with Norton antivirus trial and Office 2007 trial. Another downer is that you have to make your own backup DVDs, but the D drive is only about 10 GB, which is fine for a 300 GB drive.
Should be getting the upgrade to Windows 7 with this machine.
There was a rebate offered for this, I think. “Purchase an HP Pavilion notebook PC with a model number ending in “us” or “se” and receive $50 (U.S.) cash back.” which is at [...] and I hope it works. Amazon doesn’t list it on this page.
Do not buy an HP laptop
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought 2 HP laptops and have had nothing but trouble. 1 laptop had to go back to the shop three times: once because the bracket connecting the screen to the keyboard broke, once because the hard drive was defective and once because the sound card was defective. One time I sent it to HP and they returned my computer still broken. My other laptop had to be returned to the factory because the hard drive was defective. I have had to do so many system restores (and in fact did one last night) and lost programs that I had to buy (Word Perfect). Even though it was supposed to have been repaired, my itunes library still doesn’t play right. The music will skip. This computer is a huge disappointment. I don’t even use the computer anymore because it is so annoying. Vista makes it even worse (although I think hp finally realized this.)
