I bought this product in April, 2009. I began to use it in May, and I must admit from the moment I started it up it seemed a little slow. I thought it was just because it was loading everything for the first time, but my sisters seemed to think it should have been better. Well, it went strong for a little while, but then quickly deteriorated. It began to get really slow, and then the odd time wouldn’t let me open my files. My picture, computer, all of those. Then it wouldn’t let me open them at all. Said there was a error with windows, and that I needed to send and error report, but if i tried to send the error report my whole computer would freeze, and I’d need to restart. My computer became very slow, and now it won’t even turn on! It’s been that way for about 2 months now, and every time I try to turn it on it flashed a blue screen error. Unfortunately, I had a lot of pictures and files on it. I wouldn’t recommend this product. It definitely brought Acer down in my estimation.

Acer Aspire One AOA150-1447 8.9-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) Sapphire BluePurchased for xmas 2008 from sams club. Screen went blank. Called customer service line. Got tech who could barely speek english and had to repeat himself many times. He had me try to update the bios. Did not work. Had to call customer service again. Another tech who you could not understand. He faxed info on how to return item. Returned item as instructed. Contacted by repair center that stated that the LCD was broke and that was “Customer Abuse” which was not covered by the 1 year warranty. Contacted customer service. They stated the same thing over and over in broken english. I told them that my wife and I both have laptops (both dell) that we have had for over 5 years now. These laptops are carted in and out of the schools that we work in every day and used by handicaped children who beat and bang them. We have had no issues with the LCD or any other functions. The Acer One was used strictly at home on a very limited basis and sits on our end table next to the couch and has never been dropped or abused in any way. I told them that our work laptops endure 10x the abuse and they have no LCD problems. THERE RESPONSE WAS THAT YOU CAN DAMAGE A LCD SCREEN BY SIMPLY CLOSING THE LAPTOP TO HARD OR PRESSING ON THE CASE. APPARENTLY THAT IS THE ISSUE WITH AN ACER BECAUSE MY OTHER LAPTOPS SEEM TO HOLD UP JUST FINE. I QUESS IF YOU WANT A LAPTOP THAT YOU DON’T TOUCH – DON’T OPEN AND CLOSE AND PRETTY MUCH DON’T USE THE ACER ONE WOULD BE FOR YOU.——TAKE MY WORD DON’T BY AN ACER–QUALITY IS POOR AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN INTERPUTER IF YOU CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE OR JUST HAVE THEM EMAIL THE SCRIPT THEY READ TO ALL CUSTOMERSAcer Aspire One AOD150-1165 10.1-Inch Sapphire Blue Netbook – 6.5 Hour Battery Life
Fantastic!

Pros:
Battery life last a long time. I would say it averages about 6 hours.
Price. Affordable.
Small and lightweight. I can carry it easily with books in my bag. My other laptop consumes a lot of space and weighs twice as much.
Never had a problem with it.
Cons:
Small was a pro, but also a con. Typing in long intervals can become a pain due to the small key board.
I wouldn’t recommend this if it’s your only computer due to the keyboard size.
If you don’t lay it on a hard flat surface, this baby gets hot. Since the exhaust vents are along the bottom, if you place this on a soft surface (your lap, the couch, your bed, a pillow, etc.) it cannot vent properly. I would bet that’s why some people rated this so low claiming failure. The motherboard probably overheated.
I love it, and if you treat this laptop with some common sense you will love it too.
**Note, I wouldn’t necessary call this a “netbook” due to the lack of a solid state hard drive. Due to its size people call it as such, but actually, it’s just a small laptop. You won’t find a 160gb netbook, solid state laptop for this price!

i have had my acer aspire one for just about a year and i must say that i am very happy with it. i use it in school for taking notes and it is nice because it doesnt take up much room on the table. I do with that the speakers were a little bit louder but they are good enough for sitting in the student lounge doing homework. also there are some issues i have with the standby but its nothing i cant deal with. the internet is pretty quick considering its size but facebook, netflix, and my schools websites come in fast and allow me to get my work done quickly. all in all this has been a nice dependable little laptop that lets me study and socialize all at the same time.
Seems fine, but a bit slow

Works fine, screen is easy to read and manoeuver, nice color, but a bit slow. Wouldn’t use it for business on a regular basis but is okay for vacations and occasional use. I’ve only had it a few weeks… no problems yet.
I loved it……………….. until

I ordered this 10/15/2008.. got it loved it…. then just two weeks ago the web cam crashed.. I followed instructions on Acer’s website to no avail, the website KNEW the situation required service … SOOOO I called tech support and I was told “Sorry” you net book went out of of warranty on 10/7/2009!? (I ordered it 10/15/2008). If you want to send it in for repair it will call $200.00 !”
I was floored.. and saddened, as the webcam broke just before I had it for a year, I was out of town on a business trip and called them when I got home. I guess this is the first and last ACER I buy.
It has worked okay on my road trips other then on occasion the wireless fails and I have to reboot. Now the webcam needs service… makes it hard to skype my family when I travel.. This really sucks….
great netbook

I used to hate lugging my old laptop around, it was heavy and the battery never lasted long enough. If you buy this with the larger 6 hour battery option, it’s cheaper then adding it later. This neat little number fits in your purse and has a pretty powerful WiFi receiver, I take it grocery shopping to Safeway to look up recipe ingredients!!
The only drawback is the small screen. Your eyes get a bit tired with extended viewing. I highly recommend it though for people on the go and it’s great for travel.
Great !!!!!
